Killing Time at the Tate

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_a33100_3182

Brand new poem, ode to my favorite art museum…but there’s more

Killing Time at the Tate

Visiting the Tate Modern
For the umpteenth time
Like all my London shows
Kipping at Luna Simone
Taking the tube from Pimlico
Hours before soundcheck
Always killing time

Years flash by like reveries
Young – love hope beaming
The ones that got away
Old – practicing and scheming
Hurry up and wait to
Take another stage
Always waiting for my turn

I come across a sculpture
An old victrola console,
Painted and displayed with
Shattered 78.  Pieces on the floor
Lost friends and broken dreams
Leading me to this place
Always killing time
